Forensic Psychotherapy

Sex Offender Treatment Services

At The Point Psychology Canada Inc, we offer specialized therapy and treatment for individuals who have committed sexual harm. Our services are available at any stage of the legal process, whether before criminal charges are filed, during legal proceedings, or after release on parole. We work with those who have committed offenses both on adults and involving minors.

Our therapists use a person-centered approach to understand the deeper emotional issues and unresolved trauma that may have contributed to offending behaviours. Trauma-Focused CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to help clients work through emotional disturbances, trauma, and harmful patterns of behaviour.

Breaking Harmful Habits: The Track Metaphor

Think of habitual offending behaviors like a car driving down the same road, over and over again. Each time you drive down that road, deep tire tracks are formed, creating a well-worn path that’s difficult to escape. These tracks represent the ingrained patterns of behavior that have developed over time.

At The Point Psychology Canada Inc, our goal is to help you recognize these deeply embedded patterns. We start by identifying the "tracks" of harmful behaviours that have formed over time. Then, we work to fill in those tracks—essentially "replacing" the old, destructive paths with new, healthier, and more productive ones.

Just like a car needs to be steered onto a new road, it requires time and effort to break the cycle and build new, positive pathways in the brain. Through consistent therapy, we help you re-route these old patterns and pave the way for healthier behavior that leads to safer, more fulfilling interactions in your life.

Support for Families

We also provide therapy for families who are affected by a member’s involvement in sexual violence. Our goal is to help families navigate the challenges they face and find the support they need to manage the situation and move forward.

Our Approach to Rehabilitation

At The Point Canada Inc, we take a comprehensive and ethical approach to rehabilitation. By combining psychodynamic therapy, behavioral modification techniques, and psychoeducation, we support clients in working toward rehabilitation and a safe, healthy reintegration into society. We are committed to ensuring our approach is rooted in responsibility, ethics, and respect for both the client and the impact on victims.

Understanding Pedophilia

Reasearch suggests that Pedophilia, also known as "minor-attracted person," is sometimes defined as a sexual orientation. If you identify with these feelings, it’s important to seek professional help. The Point Canada Inc. provides a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals to explore these thoughts and work toward living a safe and non-threatening life.

At The Point Psychology Canada Inc., we take privacy and confidentiality seriously. Please review our Privacy and Confidentiality Act to understand how we maintain high standards of care, while also adhering to our legal duty to report in compliance with provincial guidelines.
